A real commission, start to finish
Here's how a botanical pet portrait came together for one customer, from the first message to delivery.
The request
A customer got in touch who was already set on a botanical portrait of their dog, Buster. They wanted red carnations (their flower of choice) worked into the piece, and Buster's favourite toy ball to be featured. The customer provided three photos of Buster.
Deposit & booking
A deposit secured their slot in my schedule and I started on their piece.
Sketch & block-in
I start with a pencil sketch to nail the composition, then block in the base colours - sharing progress photos with the customer at each stage via email (but can also be given through whatsapp).

Mounted & framed
Once the paint is fully dry and varnished, the finished piece is mounted and framed, ready to travel to its new home.

Balance settled
With the finished piece revealed, the remaining balance is paid before it leaves the studio.
Sent & delivered
The painting is carefully packaged and posted to its new home. This particular portrait was hand-delivered as it was local.
