Who I am

Shinyverse is the creative work of Laura Jackson, based in the UK. For data protection purposes I am the data controller for this website, shinyverse.co.uk.

What I collect

The only personal information I collect is what you choose to type into a form on this site.

From the contact or commission enquiry forms:

• Your name and email address, so I can reply to you.
• The message you write, and the subject of your enquiry.
• Any reference photos you attach to a commission enquiry.

The newsletter

If you sign up to the newsletter, I collect your email address and nothing else. The newsletter covers new items in the shop, commissions opening, and the markets and events I'll be at.

You then get one email asking you to confirm. Until you click the link in it I send you nothing else, and if you never click it your address is never used at all.

I don't add people who contacted me through the enquiry forms.

The list is run through MailerLite, an email service based in Lithuania and operating under UK and EU data protection rules. They store your address and send the emails on my behalf. I don't share the list with anyone else, and I never sell it.

Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and one click is enough. There's also an unsubscribe page on this site, linked in the footer of every page, where you can enter your address to stop the newsletter.

You can also just email me and I'll take you off. Once you unsubscribe I stop emailing you, and I delete addresses from the list if I ever stop running the newsletter. If you ever want to come back, signing up again is all it takes, and you'll get a fresh confirmation email to click.

Why I collect it

I only use your details for the reason you got in touch: to reply to your message and, for commissions, to prepare a quote and create your artwork. UK data protection law allows me to use your information for this.

The newsletter is different, and I only send it because you asked me to. Enquiry details never get added to the newsletter.

I don't sell or share your details with anyone for marketing.

Who else sees it

Form submissions are sent to me by email using Google's Gmail service, so your message and any attachments are processed and stored within my email account. Google acts as my email provider — see Google's own privacy policy for how they handle data in transit.

Newsletter addresses are stored by MailerLite, who send the emails for me. See their privacy policy for how they handle that data.

The shop links out to third-party platforms such as eBay and Shopify. If you buy from there, your purchase is handled under that platform's own terms and privacy policy, not this one. I don't take payments on this website.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiry emails and reference photos only as long as I need them — to reply, and for commissions, for the duration of the project and a reasonable period afterwards in case you order again. You can ask me to delete your information at any time.

Cookies and analytics

This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies, and does not run third-party analytics. You can browse it anonymously.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask me to give you a copy of the information I hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can object to how I use it. Just email hello@shinyverse.co.uk and I'll sort it out.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.

You also have the right to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), the UK's data protection regulator, though I'd always rather you came to me first so I can help.
